Building a Lady Shannon Pool Table

Here are some pics of the team delivering and installing a beautiful Porter Renaissance, Lady Shannon pool table to a home in Vail, Colorado.

On special tables like this, we primarily use hand tools versus power tools and no part of the table EVER touches the floor. Blankets and padding are used generously around the work area to protect every part of this beautiful, hand-carved masterpiece!

1904 Brunswick Saratoga

I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I'd update the blog with some of the most recent tables we have.

This is a beautiful 1904 Brunswick Saratoga pool table. Pool tables in this era were just made better. Prior to about 1960, Brunswick hand made their pool tables in the United States. They had actual "master craftsmen" who used to painstakingly build tables by hand and the quality was just better.

As some in the business know...if you want the best, you buy an Antique Brunswick!

Olhausen Pro Pool Table Assembly

On this day we assembled and replaced the felt on an Olhausen pro pool table. These Olhausen tables are extremely well built and great to work on. We initially disassembled the rails so we could replace the felt. The corners are put together with special brackets and the rail skirts are screwed in.

Once we have the rails disassembled, the side rails are all one unit and do not come apart; so we use the side of the table as the workbench. This customer was replacing black felt with tournament green.

After we got the rails refelted, we assembled the body and added the slate. It didn't require many shims. After the slate was level, we added the new felt.

We reassembled the rails (away from the table), then placed the on the table as one piece. We bolted them in place, nailed in the pockets and we were done.

The customers started playing before we left the house. They loved it.

Cue Master pool table

This post is on the move and assembly of a Cue Master pool table in Denver. This was an older table made primarily of particle board; these tables are always challenging and a little fun. Unfortunately, the customer chose not to replace the felt, so the finished table wasn't very pretty, but it definitely played well.

First was the assembly of the frame.

Now that the frame is assembled, it's time for the slate.

After the slate was on and the seams were waxed, it's time for the rails. The first step is to place the rails on the table, add the corner pieces and them bolt them to the table. The final step is the rails skirts and the table is done.

You can see here that the cloth really needed to be replaced...

Brunswick Monarch snooker table move

In this post we moved a Brunswick Monarch snooker table from Cherry Hills to Fort Morgan Colorado. Brunswick used 1.5 inch slate on their snooker tables and outside of a single slate table, this is the heaviest slate in the field.

As we began disassembling the table there was a lot of wood damage on the rails. And because the customer didn't want any restoration work done, we couldn't do anything but take extra care when removing the felt and packing the rails for the move.

We brought along Eric's cousin Mike to help with the slate. There are three pieces and each weighs approximately 450 pounds.

After moving the table to the new location, we reassembled it in it's new home. Because the slate is so heavy, the job of shimming is much easier and quicker. Once we had the frame built and the the table was level, we put on the new felt.

The pockets are much more shallow on a snooker table which helps to give it a cleaner look.

The final task was to draw the D on the table and rack up the balls.

It turned out really well, and the clients were extremely satisfied.
